Happy Monday! How are you feeling today? Everything go well this weekend? Any challenges?
I know you have goals/non-negotiable set for the whole year, but Chris talked the other day about how short term goals can be really motivating. Each Monday I like to set a new goal, it might be the same as the week before or maybe you made a small tweak based on how things are going. But I think that doing short term goals and small adjustments like this is so much better than sticking with something that's not working, or making drastic changes.
So what is your one goal or non-negotiable for this week?
*Supporter Livestream Thursday this week (and next week).
Yesterday we surprised the kids and brought home a puppy!! They have been begging for one for years and we felt like the time was right to bring one home.
Meet Angus 🐕 He's a Golden Retriever/King Charles Cavalier Spaniel mix. He's 11 weeks old and currently weighs about 8 pounds, he should be around 35 pounds fully grown. I know it will be an adjustment for a while as he gets potty trained etc but we are so excited. 😂 Wish us luck! 🤪
Cheese is good! I ate a block of chipotle oven baked cheese with lunch yesterday and it was divine. I love it, but know that it halts any progress I'm making, and will even trigger eating in excess to where I'll gain weight. It's sad but I have accepted it. If I eat it in small quantities with a meal, it's ok, but I really have to work to keep it in check.
What's your favorite cheese? How do you incorporate it? Do you see negative results when eating it?
Happy Sunday! Sharing a video today from our week, one of the highlights. This was Wednesday evening church, normally they have a more casual prayer meeting where someone plays the guitar, but they were doing some construction in the fellowship hall so they had their prayer meeting in the sanctuary. No one was there to play the piano so my my Grandma did it, she's been playing the piano in church for probably 80 years.
For context, she's 88, she had a really bad fall 5 years ago now and hit her head and ended up with a lot setbacks, similar to having a stroke. She has a lot of dementia like symptoms also (I am sure related to her Type 2 diabetes), she really can't read music anymore, and she has trouble seeing well, and she needs to wear hearing aids to hear but hates wearing them, so on this night she didn't want to wear them. My 93 (almost 94) year old grandpa takes care of both of them on their farm. Anyway, on this night she sat down on the piano and led worship as people called ...
Happy Sunday! We had a wonderful dinner out last night, we never all get dressed up, let alone for an evening meal. 😂 We have church today, and then we are having skirt steak for lunch.
This afternoon I need to make a big batch of dog food for Angus for the week ahead. I do more meal prep for Angus than the rest of us. 😂😂🤪 Back when I was on a vegan diet I used to spend hours and hours every week meal prepping for the week ahead, plus I was eating 6x a day back then. I just love how much less time I have to spend more on prepping, and eating in general. I can't imagine ever going back to eating so many times a day every again.
How many times a day do you tend to eat?
Livestream tomorrow night here in Locals at 7pm EST.
I’m glad to be back in the community after a bit. I veered off track for about a month to eating more veg/fruit/carbs - what was I thinking? 🤢 My digestive system is very glad I’m back on track - I just did a grocery haul after a delicious tri tip lunch. Yum.
I missed being part of the group, even though I didn’t post much. It means a lot to know there’s a group that has a similar mindset.
I like the new UI!
We are finally heading home from our week long vacation to Maine. We covered 8 states in total. We were going to drive up Mt.Washington but we decided not to as we kind of just want to get home. Kids enjoyed the week as did my Mom. She was the whole reason we went to Maine. She had always wanted to go. However, her knee was very bad and she could barely walk so that put a real damper on things. It made her depressed. We got one hike in (we are hiking people)...and my daughter has decided when she is older she plans on staying at a 5star resort on the beach and not do a thing...haha. we stayed meaty the whole time. There were a lack of steaks in Maine so we enjoyed hamburgers (a lot of them), chuck roast, hotdogs, sausage patties, eggs, and bacon of course. We ordered pizza one night for the kids.
