Cheese is good! I ate a block of chipotle oven baked cheese with lunch yesterday and it was divine. I love it, but know that it halts any progress I'm making, and will even trigger eating in excess to where I'll gain weight. It's sad but I have accepted it. If I eat it in small quantities with a meal, it's ok, but I really have to work to keep it in check.

What's your favorite cheese? How do you incorporate it? Do you see negative results when eating it?

Happy Sunday! Sharing a video today from our week, one of the highlights. This was Wednesday evening church, normally they have a more casual prayer meeting where someone plays the guitar, but they were doing some construction in the fellowship hall so they had their prayer meeting in the sanctuary. No one was there to play the piano so my my Grandma did it, she's been playing the piano in church for probably 80 years.

For context, she's 88, she had a really bad fall 5 years ago now and hit her head and ended up with a lot setbacks, similar to having a stroke. She has a lot of dementia like symptoms also (I am sure related to her Type 2 diabetes), she really can't read music anymore, and she has trouble seeing well, and she needs to wear hearing aids to hear but hates wearing them, so on this night she didn't want to wear them. My 93 (almost 94) year old grandpa takes care of both of them on their farm. Anyway, on this night she sat down on the piano and led worship as people called ...

Happy Saturday! I hope you are all doing well. I know some people in the group have had some recent tough news for themselves or family members. It really puts the day to day issues we face into perspective, and reminds me to just focus on doing the best I can to be as healthy as possible. To those who are having a hard time, we are all here for you and sending you some prayers and support. 🙏🏼🙏🏼 Just focus today on doing the best you can and remember that food isn't going to bring you the comfort you are looking for.

Here is a little video of Penelopes performance from her piano recital l last night, she's been taking lessons for about a year and a half. 🎹🤍🖤

Happy Sunday! I know this week ahead will be very chaotic for many people, I hope today that you can find some moments of peace and rest. We've been having a lot of great conversations with the kids this week focusing on the true meaning of Christmas. ✝️

I encourage you to take a few minutes today to rest and prepare your heart for the week ahead. Health is so much more than what we eat and getting in our steps. True healing comes from peace in our hearts. I hope you have a wonderful Sunday!

Saturday, December 20th

Happy Saturday!! My mom made it safely to Arizona last night and away from snowy/freezing Indiana. Chris and I are headed up to the cabin today for the weekend just the 2 of us, then we will have a couple weeks all home together with my Mom for Christmas. I am working Monday to wrap up some things for the year, but then taking almost 2 weeks off work for the holidays. I think in my 20 years working in corporate jobs I have never taken been off work for 2 weeks over Christmas/New Years. I am so excited about some time to just decompress and spend quality time with my family before a very busy January/February.

What are your plans for this weekend?

December 20, 2025

It's been a long time since I checked in here. I've been really struggling with my why and some mental baggage. One year ago, I'd resolved to make changes, get healthy and fit, and lose the weight I've been carrying (and generally increasing) since I was 11 years old (I'm 47 now). I've never been at a healthy weight as an adult, and don't know what that might be for me (I'm more focused on body fat percentage and keeping/building lean muscle, so from my highest weight at the first of the month, I have anywhere between 110 and 125 pounds to lose).

Now, another year has passed and physically nothing has changed, though I am more aware of the mental and emotional hurdles that derail me.

So, at the first of December, I renewed my commitment and restarted. I've been very strict (I have generally remained animal based and satisfied with 2 meals per day), tightened down my eating window to earlier in the day and started walking. I went from an average of 2,500 steps per day (desk job) to 10,000 ...
