I just saw wanted to stop in and say everyone in the path of these storms stay safe! Tornado storms the worst so I won't be getting much sleep.
Fyi air fried left over brisket is awesome! Why have I never tried that before? I was up at 1am hungry...like really hungry. So today I had 4juicy eggs, 2 burger patties (1 with cheese) and 2 slices of brisket. The rest of the family ate pork ribs.
Yesterday we surprised the kids and brought home a puppy!! They have been begging for one for years and we felt like the time was right to bring one home.
Meet Angus 🐕 He's a Golden Retriever/King Charles Cavalier Spaniel mix. He's 11 weeks old and currently weighs about 8 pounds, he should be around 35 pounds fully grown. I know it will be an adjustment for a while as he gets potty trained etc but we are so excited. 😂 Wish us luck! 🤪
Cheese is good! I ate a block of chipotle oven baked cheese with lunch yesterday and it was divine. I love it, but know that it halts any progress I'm making, and will even trigger eating in excess to where I'll gain weight. It's sad but I have accepted it. If I eat it in small quantities with a meal, it's ok, but I really have to work to keep it in check.
What's your favorite cheese? How do you incorporate it? Do you see negative results when eating it?
Happy Sunday! Sharing a video today from our week, one of the highlights. This was Wednesday evening church, normally they have a more casual prayer meeting where someone plays the guitar, but they were doing some construction in the fellowship hall so they had their prayer meeting in the sanctuary. No one was there to play the piano so my my Grandma did it, she's been playing the piano in church for probably 80 years.
For context, she's 88, she had a really bad fall 5 years ago now and hit her head and ended up with a lot setbacks, similar to having a stroke. She has a lot of dementia like symptoms also (I am sure related to her Type 2 diabetes), she really can't read music anymore, and she has trouble seeing well, and she needs to wear hearing aids to hear but hates wearing them, so on this night she didn't want to wear them. My 93 (almost 94) year old grandpa takes care of both of them on their farm. Anyway, on this night she sat down on the piano and led worship as people called ...
I had some blood work done just before our vacation and was anxiously waiting for the results. It had been a while since I had any and now being over 50, I had to get the things guys get tested at that point. Great news is, my doctor said my blood work looks like a 25 year old, with the exception of my sky high LDL. I turned down the statin. Both the old man things (PSA and colon) came back perfect too.
Below is the metabolic stuff and other particulars I focus on. Next up, CAC scan of the heart. Anyone have one? How did it go? I worry I did so much damage in the past already.

I watched a video that about pregnancy after 40. The nurse talked about how getting enough protein and fat is essential for egg development and it takes 8 months for what you are doing to make a difference in your eggs. I’m not saying I’m trying to get pregnant because I don’t feel I’m healthy enough for it. My husband and I have tried to conceive before through IUI with meds, fertility specialists, the whole thing. But it didn’t work out and I couldn’t go through it again emotionally. But it’s been on my mind as the years go by and now I feel more in control with my eating. I guess I’m saying I’m just day dreaming.
Tuesday.
Eggs for breakfast.. chicken and ground beef for dinner. Mints during the afternoon.
Not enough water...did not track it. I have a severely sore throat and it's so hard to swallow. Ears, sinus pain, body aches.
Right now we are watching weather diligently. Tornadoes and severe thunderstorms headed our way but tornadoes seem to be lifting. Will have to stay awake a while longer...
No exercise today. Just office work and that just is what it is.
Keeping it real. Tomorrow is a new day. 😉
