Tuesday, March 10th

I had some blood work done just before our vacation and was anxiously waiting for the results. It had been a while since I had any and now being over 50, I had to get the things guys get tested at that point. Great news is, my doctor said my blood work looks like a 25 year old, with the exception of my sky high LDL. I turned down the statin. Both the old man things (PSA and colon) came back perfect too.

Below is the metabolic stuff and other particulars I focus on. Next up, CAC scan of the heart. Anyone have one? How did it go? I worry I did so much damage in the past already.

Big Day!

Yesterday we surprised the kids and brought home a puppy!! They have been begging for one for years and we felt like the time was right to bring one home.

Meet Angus 🐕 He's a Golden Retriever/King Charles Cavalier Spaniel mix. He's 11 weeks old and currently weighs about 8 pounds, he should be around 35 pounds fully grown. I know it will be an adjustment for a while as he gets potty trained etc but we are so excited. 😂 Wish us luck! 🤪

Wednesday, September 3rd

Cheese is good! I ate a block of chipotle oven baked cheese with lunch yesterday and it was divine. I love it, but know that it halts any progress I'm making, and will even trigger eating in excess to where I'll gain weight. It's sad but I have accepted it. If I eat it in small quantities with a meal, it's ok, but I really have to work to keep it in check.

What's your favorite cheese? How do you incorporate it? Do you see negative results when eating it?

Sunday, Aug 31st

Happy Sunday! Sharing a video today from our week, one of the highlights. This was Wednesday evening church, normally they have a more casual prayer meeting where someone plays the guitar, but they were doing some construction in the fellowship hall so they had their prayer meeting in the sanctuary. No one was there to play the piano so my my Grandma did it, she's been playing the piano in church for probably 80 years.

For context, she's 88, she had a really bad fall 5 years ago now and hit her head and ended up with a lot setbacks, similar to having a stroke. She has a lot of dementia like symptoms also (I am sure related to her Type 2 diabetes), she really can't read music anymore, and she has trouble seeing well, and she needs to wear hearing aids to hear but hates wearing them, so on this night she didn't want to wear them. My 93 (almost 94) year old grandpa takes care of both of them on their farm. Anyway, on this night she sat down on the piano and led worship as people called ...

Monday, March 9th

Happy Monday!! We had a very exciting weekend of course with the arrival of Angus. 🐕 Things are going well so far, be prepared to be sick of puppy pictures. 😂 My Mom is leaving today, the kids are going to be starting back homeschool after a couple weeks off, and we are going to be really dialed into a routine to help get the puppy settled. The Spaths love a well structured day so bring it on! 😂

Monday:

I enjoyed the live tonight! It was fun to hang out 😁 Ive decided to start daily accountability posts. Im gonna shoot for an evening or bedtime post every day this week and see if I can be consistent with that.

This evening I walked about 15 minutes on my treadmill and did some free weights for my arms. The treadmill bores me to tears and I am so out of shape that it takes a lot of determination to just do it, but I did both today.

I also got in nearly 100 Oz of water and maybe 8.5 hours of sleep last night.

Im not feeling my best...still battling in my sinuses and ears (seems never ending) but still felt like i had a productive day.

I wasnt perfectly 0 carb today (the last of the corn chips and potatoes...I know!) but lots of other positives. I keep hearing Laura in my ears saying that if you want to make radical changes to your health and reverse metabolic syndrome, etc. Then its going to take radical and CONSISTENT change. That is my word to focus on.... consistency.
