So yesterday Mary shared a video with Dr. Anthony Chaffee that was VERY timely for me. I started low carb from carnivore last March and while this had not negatively impacted my weight loss (down 22 lbs), it has over time led me down a slippery slope. I've been maintaining my weight for several months now, but lately I've noticed myself slipping into bad habits, can we say sugar in the form of dark chocolate. It started out weekly and it's become daily. The inflammation has begun with bleeding gums and I'm desperate to nip this in the bud. @ChereeDee and I have discussed this and after watching the video I've committed to reducing my carbs to under 40 g per day. So much of what he said about vegetables interfering with the body's absorption of nutrients from meat has me so intrigued. I'm not quite ready to dive back into carnivore, I'd miss my squash so much, but I am ready to reduce my carb intake.
Today:
B - 1 slice bacon and brie frittata, black coffee
L - mackerel in tomato sauce, 100 g plain Greek yogurt
D - egg whites with cooked ground beef, butternut squash, avocado, and crunchy garlic
S - cottage cheese with latte powder, bits of cheese at work
1,898 calories, 158 g protein, 109 g fat, 63 g carbs
7,749 steps today just while at work!
Cheese is good! I ate a block of chipotle oven baked cheese with lunch yesterday and it was divine. I love it, but know that it halts any progress I'm making, and will even trigger eating in excess to where I'll gain weight. It's sad but I have accepted it. If I eat it in small quantities with a meal, it's ok, but I really have to work to keep it in check.
What's your favorite cheese? How do you incorporate it? Do you see negative results when eating it?
Happy Sunday! Sharing a video today from our week, one of the highlights. This was Wednesday evening church, normally they have a more casual prayer meeting where someone plays the guitar, but they were doing some construction in the fellowship hall so they had their prayer meeting in the sanctuary. No one was there to play the piano so my my Grandma did it, she's been playing the piano in church for probably 80 years.
For context, she's 88, she had a really bad fall 5 years ago now and hit her head and ended up with a lot setbacks, similar to having a stroke. She has a lot of dementia like symptoms also (I am sure related to her Type 2 diabetes), she really can't read music anymore, and she has trouble seeing well, and she needs to wear hearing aids to hear but hates wearing them, so on this night she didn't want to wear them. My 93 (almost 94) year old grandpa takes care of both of them on their farm. Anyway, on this night she sat down on the piano and led worship as people called ...
Happy Saturday! I hope you are all doing well. I know some people in the group have had some recent tough news for themselves or family members. It really puts the day to day issues we face into perspective, and reminds me to just focus on doing the best I can to be as healthy as possible. To those who are having a hard time, we are all here for you and sending you some prayers and support. 🙏🏼🙏🏼 Just focus today on doing the best you can and remember that food isn't going to bring you the comfort you are looking for.
Here is a little video of Penelopes performance from her piano recital l last night, she's been taking lessons for about a year and a half. 🎹🤍🖤
*Livestream Monday night at 4pm pst/7pm est
Ugh! Struggling here. I ate a little chocolate over the weekend which wakened the sugar beast who encouraged me to take a bit of bites of the kids snacks at school to keep it alive. 😡
It was rainy yesterday, the sun sets so early, low energy, I’m noticing my hair is getting thinner, I think this menopause thing is really hitting now. (No uterus so not exactly sure where I’m at.)
I’m feeling good today though. I want to fast 23 hours- until tomorrow breakfast.
Happy Tuesday!! Thanks for those that hung out on the Livestream last night. Congrats to @Sami198 for winning the Giveaway.
One of the ideas we came up with last night was to do a Thanksgiving Recipe Ideas thread. So that's what we are doing today. Share below any recipes you have for Thanksgiving (or any Holiday meal). Let's keep them Carnivore, keto, low carb etc, we just want to share ideas for things people could have and not wreck their health goals.
If you need turkey tips here is a video I made last year on cooking a turkey.
