Happy Sunday! If you didn't know TikTok was banned last night, I have never had a TikTok account so it doesn't affect me at all, but I do know it's impacting a lot of people. Were you on TikTok at all? Apparently there are rumors Trump will allow them to extend operations for 90 days until they workout a long term plan once he takes office on Monday. We don't make things political in this group but it will be very interesting to see how things change overall with the new administration. We already see things shifting with the banning of Red 3, and hopefully we can get the rest of the food dyes out of our foods soon! And I think the Make America Healthy Again movement is going to really start building some positive momentum.
Today we are making my favorite meal, the skirt steak, chicken thighs, and shrimp on the griddle. Thankfully I am still off work tomorrow for the holiday, I am excited to catch up with everyone on a Monday night Livestream at 4pm pst/7pm est (since it's a holiday we'll start a little earlier). Have a great day!!
Cheese is good! I ate a block of chipotle oven baked cheese with lunch yesterday and it was divine. I love it, but know that it halts any progress I'm making, and will even trigger eating in excess to where I'll gain weight. It's sad but I have accepted it. If I eat it in small quantities with a meal, it's ok, but I really have to work to keep it in check.
What's your favorite cheese? How do you incorporate it? Do you see negative results when eating it?
Happy Sunday! Sharing a video today from our week, one of the highlights. This was Wednesday evening church, normally they have a more casual prayer meeting where someone plays the guitar, but they were doing some construction in the fellowship hall so they had their prayer meeting in the sanctuary. No one was there to play the piano so my my Grandma did it, she's been playing the piano in church for probably 80 years.
For context, she's 88, she had a really bad fall 5 years ago now and hit her head and ended up with a lot setbacks, similar to having a stroke. She has a lot of dementia like symptoms also (I am sure related to her Type 2 diabetes), she really can't read music anymore, and she has trouble seeing well, and she needs to wear hearing aids to hear but hates wearing them, so on this night she didn't want to wear them. My 93 (almost 94) year old grandpa takes care of both of them on their farm. Anyway, on this night she sat down on the piano and led worship as people called ...
Happy Saturday! I hope you are all doing well. I know some people in the group have had some recent tough news for themselves or family members. It really puts the day to day issues we face into perspective, and reminds me to just focus on doing the best I can to be as healthy as possible. To those who are having a hard time, we are all here for you and sending you some prayers and support. 🙏🏼🙏🏼 Just focus today on doing the best you can and remember that food isn't going to bring you the comfort you are looking for.
Here is a little video of Penelopes performance from her piano recital l last night, she's been taking lessons for about a year and a half. 🎹🤍🖤
*Livestream Monday night at 4pm pst/7pm est
Happy Saturday!! We have a very busy weekend as a family, but all fun things. Chris is putting up the outdoor Christmas lights today, I am taking Penelope to see the second Wicked movie this afternoon. Tomorrow we have church and then my aunt and uncle are coming over for lunch and a visit. When we have company I always make 2 meats (like we normally would) and then I usually add a vegetable or salad. Nathaniel requested I made a roasted sweet potato/apple dish that they have on the salad bar at Fogo. But we like to keep it our normal meats but add a couple whole food sides for the guests. We are excited to visit with them also.
Chris and I decided we will do a Livestream on. YouTube Sunday afternoon as well, 6 pm EST. I'll post the link tomorrow.
What are your plans this weekend?
Accountability
1. Bacon, boiled eggs, mustard, LMNT
2. Meat loaf, LMNT
3. Protein shake with 1/2& 1/2, butter bites
Notes: flu symptoms improving slowly, little bit longer between coughing spells so sleep getting better. Having some weird symptoms though, gums bleeding which I haven’t had in a year, pain in hands that feels like a mild RA flair. Haven’t eaten anything off plan but did take some theraflu twice. No exercise yet but I did sit outside in the sun for about 45 minutes today which felt great!
We are enjoying our laid back weekend before the holiday chaos. I have switched to contacts without uv protection so I have been really trying to get sun the most I can! We all tend to have low vitD in the winter so hopefully this helps. We smoked pork loin and chuck roast for dinner tonight. I still have inflammation from my allergy reaction so I have started a fast to help. Not sure if it will but it can't hurt. My lymphnoids are still a little swollen but I slept better last night so that is a positive. I also did a lymphphatic massage to help things.
