Happy 1/1/25
I have been thinking a lot this past week. I went into my scale app and went back 5 years. The same pattern happens every year the end of December I would weigh and I am guessing didn't like it and didn't weigh again until January or February. It is just interesting because I drop weight all year and by end of Dec gained a lot back then January/February start again. However I did notice something positive. Everytime I start again in Jan/Feb I was always lower than the year before. I am still down 30 lbs then I was this time last year. This is still been a great accomplishment even though I have gained I am still at my lowest. Starting at the weight I am now is freaking awesome to me. I am excited to get to goal this year. I know it will happen. I have no doubt. That is so exciting to me.
I found a notebook and I had no idea what was in it. It was the picture of some quotes. I feel like I wrote them down and never looked at them again. I am going to try to commit to reading them everyday as a reminder of what I am doing and why.
I got this prayer book as well and I figured I share the very first page. So many things I want to happen this year. However I know it takes patience and it is in his timing.
Thankful for all of you and the support of this group! 2025 is going to be great❤
Yesterday we surprised the kids and brought home a puppy!! They have been begging for one for years and we felt like the time was right to bring one home.
Meet Angus 🐕 He's a Golden Retriever/King Charles Cavalier Spaniel mix. He's 11 weeks old and currently weighs about 8 pounds, he should be around 35 pounds fully grown. I know it will be an adjustment for a while as he gets potty trained etc but we are so excited. 😂 Wish us luck! 🤪
Cheese is good! I ate a block of chipotle oven baked cheese with lunch yesterday and it was divine. I love it, but know that it halts any progress I'm making, and will even trigger eating in excess to where I'll gain weight. It's sad but I have accepted it. If I eat it in small quantities with a meal, it's ok, but I really have to work to keep it in check.
What's your favorite cheese? How do you incorporate it? Do you see negative results when eating it?
Happy Sunday! Sharing a video today from our week, one of the highlights. This was Wednesday evening church, normally they have a more casual prayer meeting where someone plays the guitar, but they were doing some construction in the fellowship hall so they had their prayer meeting in the sanctuary. No one was there to play the piano so my my Grandma did it, she's been playing the piano in church for probably 80 years.
For context, she's 88, she had a really bad fall 5 years ago now and hit her head and ended up with a lot setbacks, similar to having a stroke. She has a lot of dementia like symptoms also (I am sure related to her Type 2 diabetes), she really can't read music anymore, and she has trouble seeing well, and she needs to wear hearing aids to hear but hates wearing them, so on this night she didn't want to wear them. My 93 (almost 94) year old grandpa takes care of both of them on their farm. Anyway, on this night she sat down on the piano and led worship as people called ...
Happy Thursday! I love that "eating protein" has become so popular, and women especially are understanding the value and importance of eating a lot of protein. However, similar to Keto, companies see these food movements and rush to capitalize on it. Now in addition to endless varieties of protein bars, you can now find protein cereal, protein yogurt, protein pop tarts, protein WATER, and yesterday at Costco I saw Protein donuts.
Unfortunately the protein values are usually just marketing and when you dig into the labels the macros are just as terrible as their ingredients. And even worse these types of foods usually only increase cravings and prolong food addiction. Not to mention they are usually so full of fiber and artificial sweeteners that they make you feel terrible.
I wish people understood how much better they would feel, and healthier they would be, if they ditched those foods and just ate actual bioavailable protein...meat!!
Have you ever tried these new types of...
We are deep in the trenches with puppy training currently, and everything you research about puppy training talks about using high value food as a reward to emphasize good behavior. It's just making me realize how much we as humans also use high value food (mostly processed foods) as rewards.
Saturday soccer game, post game snack.
Good grade on a test, go out for ice cream.
I survived a rough day at work, I need a treat.
Clean out your closet, I deserve a sweet treat.
I lost 20 pounds, I get a cheat day.
On and on and on.
We see it so much with kids but that only translates into adulthood. I spent my entire life "rewarding" myself with food, so much so it was literally killing me. How many times did I lose 20 pounds and "reward" myself with a cheat day (only to then gain it all back).
Breaking those habits takes a long time. We have to find new ways to cope and non-food related things to motivate us.
Is this something you have ever struggled with? What are some ways you...
Wednesday...the ugly truth.
Welp, im staying accountable better than im staying carnivore 🫣
It was a really bad no good day for food. I will do better tomorrow. Laura, Im the person out there that needs that tough love you keep giving. Dont give up on me yet!

Dinner: chili, 2 bowls (with cheese and sour cream)
I got an email yesterday that was just so fitting. Sometimes, when we know what to do, we think, "this is gonna be easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy" when in reality, even when you know what to do, sometimes its still, "difficult-difficult-lemon-difficult."
I just gotta squeeze the lemon anyway.
No whining. Just being real.
Good night. Here's to a better day tomorrow!
