Good morning and happy new year to all!!

Well, here we are. Day one of the year. Feeling a little down. Away from family. Feeling lonely I guess. I will go for a walk and after I will keep watching my marathon of The X files to keep me distracted since I already did laundry and cleaned around the house.

Here's a picture of my last night meal.

I hope you all enjoy your day with family and/or friends.

Cheese is good! I ate a block of chipotle oven baked cheese with lunch yesterday and it was divine. I love it, but know that it halts any progress I'm making, and will even trigger eating in excess to where I'll gain weight. It's sad but I have accepted it. If I eat it in small quantities with a meal, it's ok, but I really have to work to keep it in check.

What's your favorite cheese? How do you incorporate it? Do you see negative results when eating it?

Sunday, Aug 31st

Happy Sunday! Sharing a video today from our week, one of the highlights. This was Wednesday evening church, normally they have a more casual prayer meeting where someone plays the guitar, but they were doing some construction in the fellowship hall so they had their prayer meeting in the sanctuary. No one was there to play the piano so my my Grandma did it, she's been playing the piano in church for probably 80 years.

For context, she's 88, she had a really bad fall 5 years ago now and hit her head and ended up with a lot setbacks, similar to having a stroke. She has a lot of dementia like symptoms also (I am sure related to her Type 2 diabetes), she really can't read music anymore, and she has trouble seeing well, and she needs to wear hearing aids to hear but hates wearing them, so on this night she didn't want to wear them. My 93 (almost 94) year old grandpa takes care of both of them on their farm. Anyway, on this night she sat down on the piano and led worship as people called ...

Saturday, Jan 18th

Happy Saturday! I hope you are all doing well. I know some people in the group have had some recent tough news for themselves or family members. It really puts the day to day issues we face into perspective, and reminds me to just focus on doing the best I can to be as healthy as possible. To those who are having a hard time, we are all here for you and sending you some prayers and support. 🙏🏼🙏🏼 Just focus today on doing the best you can and remember that food isn't going to bring you the comfort you are looking for.

Here is a little video of Penelopes performance from her piano recital l last night, she's been taking lessons for about a year and a half. 🎹🤍🖤

Tuesday February 3rd

Spent the weekend with my California buddies up north snowboarding. Proud that I stayed on point. We stopped at a bar after and you can see my meal and there's haha. I stuck with the wings, while they had nachos. The best part was later that night I got to cook some steaks for them. Their reaction was "this is the best steak I've ever had". Granted, it was American wagyu sirloin cap, but I nailed the cook perfectly. I've grown a passion for perfection when it comes to the meat I cook. It feels good to get these reactions.

When you cook for people, do you knock there socks off? Has cooking became a passion for you?

Ok so the other day I posted about reactive hypoglycemia... quick recap, I would eat around 10:00 and my blood sugar would go down. Yesterday I had to fast for a dr appointment that wasn't happening until the afternoon. My blood sugar was up a little in the morning (107..not horrible) and continually trended down all day. I had black coffee, water and sparkling water during the day. I took some purse bacon and a couple of sausage and cheese balls to eat after my blood draw which was around 3:00. I had a couple of hotdogs when I got home and then a coffee with LMNT, collagen powder and cream and was done by 5:00. I am testing this again today to see how I feel. I am hungry now, but not horribly. I am going to push as long as possible. I am curious to see if the stevia in my morning coffee was causing a big insulin response on top of the "dawn phenomenon" I already experience. We shall see !

Tuesday afternoon update...

Posting now because the condo is quiet. My 4 littles (2 and under) are sleeping and my 3 biggles (4 to 5 yrs) are skiing with parents.

It has been snowing a bit here every day and is just so beautiful. We are staying right on the slopes and so thankful for the special time with special family... Personally, I love to ski and have decided to make it a long term goal (1 year from now) to have lost enought weight and gained better tone and overall strength so that I can do more than babysit (don't get me wro no, I love babysitting grands!!!) But I want to SKI with the grands... it woyld be so special.

So thats it. Just sharing a 1 year goal to be down enough to ski with my grandbabies.
