Alright guys. I haven’t been on the locals app for quite some time. Was doing so good on strict carnivore! Then came December. Completely off the rails a couple of times now. Those few times of eating off plan and I’ve gained 16 LBS!!! ☹️🤮 I decided to come back to the group because I need your support to kick my butt in gear again! All that hard work for 10 months down the drain in a few days!
Yesterday we surprised the kids and brought home a puppy!! They have been begging for one for years and we felt like the time was right to bring one home.
Meet Angus 🐕 He's a Golden Retriever/King Charles Cavalier Spaniel mix. He's 11 weeks old and currently weighs about 8 pounds, he should be around 35 pounds fully grown. I know it will be an adjustment for a while as he gets potty trained etc but we are so excited. 😂 Wish us luck! 🤪
Cheese is good! I ate a block of chipotle oven baked cheese with lunch yesterday and it was divine. I love it, but know that it halts any progress I'm making, and will even trigger eating in excess to where I'll gain weight. It's sad but I have accepted it. If I eat it in small quantities with a meal, it's ok, but I really have to work to keep it in check.
What's your favorite cheese? How do you incorporate it? Do you see negative results when eating it?
Happy Sunday! Sharing a video today from our week, one of the highlights. This was Wednesday evening church, normally they have a more casual prayer meeting where someone plays the guitar, but they were doing some construction in the fellowship hall so they had their prayer meeting in the sanctuary. No one was there to play the piano so my my Grandma did it, she's been playing the piano in church for probably 80 years.
For context, she's 88, she had a really bad fall 5 years ago now and hit her head and ended up with a lot setbacks, similar to having a stroke. She has a lot of dementia like symptoms also (I am sure related to her Type 2 diabetes), she really can't read music anymore, and she has trouble seeing well, and she needs to wear hearing aids to hear but hates wearing them, so on this night she didn't want to wear them. My 93 (almost 94) year old grandpa takes care of both of them on their farm. Anyway, on this night she sat down on the piano and led worship as people called ...
I had my hands full for Monday's stream so I wasn't on the whole time but I did hear Laura telling the story of how we met, she got the job over me, and how her life turned a corner at that time 15 years ago. She may have gotten the supervisor position over me, but I won in the end. Not only because I eventually got the position anyway, but I also got to meet her. We both had similar struggles with food and weight so our path could have been one of mutual destruction. Instead, it's been both of us feeding off each other to succeed and heal. It took me nearly losing it all to get there, but we did it. I'm forever grateful for her, the work she does for our family and the joy she brings to our lives. I guess this is somewhat of a gratitude post because hearing her tell that story made me feel very grateful.
I know not everyone has a partner in your journey. If you do, shout them out below. What are you grateful for and how does that effect your daily motivation?
This photo is one...
So looks like we are officially going to Meatstock next year. I mentioned it on the Livestream last night, but they had messaged me and asked me to be on a few panels. I replied back to them and suggested they just let me emcee it since I do a lot of that in my normal job as well. They were excited about that option so looks like we are good to go! (they put me on the website already haha)
It's May 7th-9th 2027 (the 9th is Mother's Day FYI) in Nashville next year year. I assume I will get some kind of discount code to give out for tickets but I'll keep you posted.
So I have been thinking about this weekend being a holiday and my upcoming trip. My husband and I are going to the Indy 500 and I’m pretty excited since I have missed the last two years going with him. This will be my fourth time going so I kinda of know the drill….I know what I can eat at concessions there and I know some good things to pack but I’m kind of wanting to go off plan. Hear me out. I would still stay carnivore but I’m thinking of allowing dairy in for the two days and a few stevia sweetened items that I like. I’m debating since I have done really well the last several days. I want to keep things easy and I still want to feel good but I know feeling celebratory can make it hard to stay super strict. I’m heading to Costco later this morning and putting certain things on my list that I’m not sure I should have but would make packing snacks much easier lol. Would love your input!
