Alright guys. I haven’t been on the locals app for quite some time. Was doing so good on strict carnivore! Then came December. Completely off the rails a couple of times now. Those few times of eating off plan and I’ve gained 16 LBS!!! ☹️🤮 I decided to come back to the group because I need your support to kick my butt in gear again! All that hard work for 10 months down the drain in a few days!
Yesterday we surprised the kids and brought home a puppy!! They have been begging for one for years and we felt like the time was right to bring one home.
Meet Angus 🐕 He's a Golden Retriever/King Charles Cavalier Spaniel mix. He's 11 weeks old and currently weighs about 8 pounds, he should be around 35 pounds fully grown. I know it will be an adjustment for a while as he gets potty trained etc but we are so excited. 😂 Wish us luck! 🤪
Cheese is good! I ate a block of chipotle oven baked cheese with lunch yesterday and it was divine. I love it, but know that it halts any progress I'm making, and will even trigger eating in excess to where I'll gain weight. It's sad but I have accepted it. If I eat it in small quantities with a meal, it's ok, but I really have to work to keep it in check.
What's your favorite cheese? How do you incorporate it? Do you see negative results when eating it?
Happy Sunday! Sharing a video today from our week, one of the highlights. This was Wednesday evening church, normally they have a more casual prayer meeting where someone plays the guitar, but they were doing some construction in the fellowship hall so they had their prayer meeting in the sanctuary. No one was there to play the piano so my my Grandma did it, she's been playing the piano in church for probably 80 years.
For context, she's 88, she had a really bad fall 5 years ago now and hit her head and ended up with a lot setbacks, similar to having a stroke. She has a lot of dementia like symptoms also (I am sure related to her Type 2 diabetes), she really can't read music anymore, and she has trouble seeing well, and she needs to wear hearing aids to hear but hates wearing them, so on this night she didn't want to wear them. My 93 (almost 94) year old grandpa takes care of both of them on their farm. Anyway, on this night she sat down on the piano and led worship as people called ...
Happy Thursday! This is a picture of my 94 year old Grandpa showing us how long he can hold a plank. 😂🥰 He gets up at 6 every morning and does exercises to help him maintain balance and strength. My Grandpa didn't "workout" most of his life, but that's because his whole life was hard/physical work. He has always been the strongest person I know. I am 100% confident that the main reason he is still so strong today, is because of the muscles he built his entire life.
I need this reminder daily; we can't be strong in our 90s if we don't build the muscles now!! And if you don't live on a farm where you are chopping wood and making hay, then you have to replicate that by lifting weights. Are you doing any strength training on a regular basis?
Quickly checking in so you all know I'm still around. Life is just busy. We ate "not great" on vacation and hubby suffered for it. We are home and it was a huge relief to get back to our normal WOE.
Tonight was filet fajitas with cheese and sour cream.
That's all I have to share. I'll try to catch up as the week goes on.
I've been missing you all! 🫂🥰
@Lauraespath Hello! During this work hiatus, my son and I wrote a book about his experience with food allergies, and I put together a workbook to help children practice making safe choices.
I have created an instagram page @healingfamilystories if you want to give a follow.
I am new to the whole posting thing, but the books are resources I really wish I had in the early years of my son’s life.
I can’t prove it, but I was encouraged by my OB to eat mostly grains during pregnancy. I had two pregnancy losses and my son was my third pregnancy. I was very inflamed during that time and did not know I was celiac. I wonder if his severe asthma and allergies were the result of such an inflamed gestational environment.
I am thankful for the opportunity for a career pivot and to consider what I want to do and sharing something useful to those who would benefit from hearing it.
Wins for the day: First day of school-check. I took a nice long walk with the dog. Eating has been on point. I added...
