We have had a busy weekend but at the same time slow weekend (I hope that makes sense) All this rain made us do some odd jobs inside that were needed. However, we had a wedding on Saturday and my Aunt told me there would be meat options...there was but not meat options we wanted...sloppy joes, shredded chicken sandwich (made with bread crumbs), meatballs (store bought ones drenched in BBQ sauce). So we swung thru Burger King in the way home for burger patties. It annoyed me only because I would of packed food or ate before. It's okay. We survived. Yesterday we made brats, steak, and meat heavy beanless chili (for the kids and my Mom).

Big Day!

Yesterday we surprised the kids and brought home a puppy!! They have been begging for one for years and we felt like the time was right to bring one home.

Meet Angus 🐕 He's a Golden Retriever/King Charles Cavalier Spaniel mix. He's 11 weeks old and currently weighs about 8 pounds, he should be around 35 pounds fully grown. I know it will be an adjustment for a while as he gets potty trained etc but we are so excited. 😂 Wish us luck! 🤪

Cheese is good! I ate a block of chipotle oven baked cheese with lunch yesterday and it was divine. I love it, but know that it halts any progress I'm making, and will even trigger eating in excess to where I'll gain weight. It's sad but I have accepted it. If I eat it in small quantities with a meal, it's ok, but I really have to work to keep it in check.

What's your favorite cheese? How do you incorporate it? Do you see negative results when eating it?

Sunday, Aug 31st

Happy Sunday! Sharing a video today from our week, one of the highlights. This was Wednesday evening church, normally they have a more casual prayer meeting where someone plays the guitar, but they were doing some construction in the fellowship hall so they had their prayer meeting in the sanctuary. No one was there to play the piano so my my Grandma did it, she's been playing the piano in church for probably 80 years.

For context, she's 88, she had a really bad fall 5 years ago now and hit her head and ended up with a lot setbacks, similar to having a stroke. She has a lot of dementia like symptoms also (I am sure related to her Type 2 diabetes), she really can't read music anymore, and she has trouble seeing well, and she needs to wear hearing aids to hear but hates wearing them, so on this night she didn't want to wear them. My 93 (almost 94) year old grandpa takes care of both of them on their farm. Anyway, on this night she sat down on the piano and led worship as people called ...

Tuesday, Sept 22nd

Happy Tuesday! Today is officially the first day of fall. It's still 100°F in AZ so doesn't feel much like fall here yet. 😂😂 Are there any "fall recipes" you tend to miss? I feel like as the weather gets colder people end up craving more carbs. Partly due to the holidays but is also makes sense to crave carbs as the weather gets colder because your body is because is wanting to "put on fat for winter". The problem is we don't fast or eat leaner reserves in winter, so there is no balance like our ancestors had, so we just gain weight.

If you are feeling those carb cravings increase as the weather gets colder, lean into fat instead. Give your body the energy it needs from animal fats, instead of carbs.

Do you crave warmer foods as the weather gets colder? What are your go-to foods for the fall that keep you on track?

@Lauraespath I was sorry to miss the live last night, but I was carpool mom.

My energy has been noticeably better since the infusion. My left ear is still stopped up for about three weeks. I finished the steroids but still have more antibiotics.

A previous doctor would dose by weight, not the standard medrol pack, but hopefully it will resolve soon.

I have been eating beef, bacon, and egg only. My doctor says the low vitamin c can prevent weight loss so I am supplementing with organs in hopes of breaking the stall.

Happy Tuesday Evening Family!
Sorry I missed the Live yesterday. I caught the latest sinus crud and started getting sick on Saturday. I ended up with the chest congestion and cough. I stayed home from work yesterday and just wasn't up to doing much, even listening to the Live. I have been taking some homeopathic pills and they worked wonders. Even though I slept poorly due to the cough, I feel So Much better today and I went to work. Hubby stayed home today but I think he is over the worst of it also.

I found another use for the canned chicken. it helps to make a quick chicken soup when one is sick and has to cook for one's self. I had home-canned stock and egg white pasta and jar-lic, so it came together pretty quickly. I can't say the chicken was very tasty that way, but it bulked up the soup. And it was clean.
