Happy Tuesday!! Most of you know how much we love Fogo de Chao, the all you can eat Brazilian steakhouse. We went for the first time when I was pregnant with Penelope, we loved it long before Carnivore (we used to eat all the carbs before though). Once we went carnivore it was just such a great deal that it quickly became one of our favorite places for a special meal out. The kids were free for a lot of years and we definitely got our money's worth as a family! Even better that they do special military discounts and coupons etc. We got to know the staff at our Scottsdale location and the kids would bring our favorite servers flowers and Christmas gifts.
The only downside is that the closest one to us was always 45 minutes away. Fortunately (or unfortunately 😂), next week they're opening one 10 minutes from our house. 🎉🎉 We are so excited, however, prices have gone up a lot there in the last 12 years so we certainly aren't going to be going there as often as we would like.
I am really excited though because I have been trying to film a YouTube video at the Scottsdale location for a lot of years and never really got response. But I assumed they would probably be trying to do some media to promote the opening of the new location, so I reached out and they agreed to let me come in and film a YouTube video there!!
I probably have hundreds of pictures that we've taken at Fogo over the years, I'll have to put some together for that video to just show how my kids have grown over the years. We went with Penelope when she was 2 weeks old. 😂 Here is our first picture at a Fogo, me pregnant with Penelope.
Have you ever been to Fogo de Chao or any other Brazilian steakhouse?
Yesterday we surprised the kids and brought home a puppy!! They have been begging for one for years and we felt like the time was right to bring one home.
Meet Angus 🐕 He's a Golden Retriever/King Charles Cavalier Spaniel mix. He's 11 weeks old and currently weighs about 8 pounds, he should be around 35 pounds fully grown. I know it will be an adjustment for a while as he gets potty trained etc but we are so excited. 😂 Wish us luck! 🤪
Cheese is good! I ate a block of chipotle oven baked cheese with lunch yesterday and it was divine. I love it, but know that it halts any progress I'm making, and will even trigger eating in excess to where I'll gain weight. It's sad but I have accepted it. If I eat it in small quantities with a meal, it's ok, but I really have to work to keep it in check.
What's your favorite cheese? How do you incorporate it? Do you see negative results when eating it?
Happy Sunday! Sharing a video today from our week, one of the highlights. This was Wednesday evening church, normally they have a more casual prayer meeting where someone plays the guitar, but they were doing some construction in the fellowship hall so they had their prayer meeting in the sanctuary. No one was there to play the piano so my my Grandma did it, she's been playing the piano in church for probably 80 years.
For context, she's 88, she had a really bad fall 5 years ago now and hit her head and ended up with a lot setbacks, similar to having a stroke. She has a lot of dementia like symptoms also (I am sure related to her Type 2 diabetes), she really can't read music anymore, and she has trouble seeing well, and she needs to wear hearing aids to hear but hates wearing them, so on this night she didn't want to wear them. My 93 (almost 94) year old grandpa takes care of both of them on their farm. Anyway, on this night she sat down on the piano and led worship as people called ...
It's been a few days but still living that beefy life. Saturday we had steak...I prob able something else but can't remember. Sunday I smoked a baby brisket I found when I was cleaned out my freezers along with leftover breakfast casserole. Yesterday was just hard boiled eggs and steak. I ate a few pickles....man those are tasting sooo good. Maybe it's the heat. Last night we finally got rain so today will be a let's pull weeks type of day. A store 40mins away has ribeye loins for $8.99/lb so I plan to get one for the freezer. This is my last week before the craziness of school activities start. The boys will have football, cross country, and marching band...while little one just has dance/swim lessons. We have been enjoying morning walks. And yes....they are sword fighting with sticks. 🤷
Happy Monday!! I hope you had an amazing weekend! We are only a few days away from ending out the month of July if you can believe it. If you've been off track, don't let yourself just wait and get started at the beginning of August. Focus on something really simple to help. Keep you from spiraling this week and that way by the time August starts, you'll already be feeling better.
What is one simple non-negotiable that you could focus on this week just to help you feel your best and stay on track?
