Happy Sunday Family!!
Hope everyone who is under this horrible heat is taking care of yourselves, animals, checking on family/friends/neighbors. Yesterday the heat index in the city was 117!!! So glad we were on our way home by then.
The zoo was fun but we were very thankful for the large jungle play gym in the air conditioned building. We only saw a few of the more exotic animals (fed giraffes, ant eater, monkeys, cheetas, peacocks.) The tigers and penguins were inside in their cool facilites.
We rode the train and since it was their last trip of the day due to the heat and we sat in the very front; gs made friends with the engineer. He wanted to ride in the locomotive, but that of course is not allowed. But the engineer told him to watch to see which button he pushed to make the horn sound and if he could tell him which one at the end, gs could try it out when we stopped. So he did get to climb up in the cab and sounded the horn and bell. He was a happy boy!
Lunch was DQ burgers and since it was my birthday and I got a freebie, I indulged in a little ice cream. It wasn't that exciting. (thank goodness for changed taste buds.)
We did some bday shopping for him and Sam's shopping for us and to help stock up their family for the start of school (Aug. 12th!)
Dinner later was leftover taco-egg casserole for me and my last little treat of my home-canned peaches (in juice) with unsweetened whipped cream on top.
Today we are back on track, eating. I think I did ok and didn't push any of my craving buttons with the more triggering foods. The closer I eat to Lion, the better I feel and the better I do with the cravings.
And finally, we are slowly increasing our times on the vibration pad. We are still at the lowest speed but are up to 5 mins. I'm amazed at how much it has helped my joint pain. My knee and upper back and thumbs were really hurting before we got it. I was sure after walking on all that hot concrete yesterday, that I would be hobbling last night. Nope, no pain. My thumbs are still a little sore but my knee and upper back feel really good. Who'd a thunk?!
That is all the news. I'll be making Chicken Salad today for lunches this week. And looking over crockpot and Instant Pot recipes for tonight and tomorrow. Thankfully this heat is supposed to break Monday night.
Stay safe everyone and have a lovely restful Sunday!
Yesterday we surprised the kids and brought home a puppy!! They have been begging for one for years and we felt like the time was right to bring one home.
Meet Angus 🐕 He's a Golden Retriever/King Charles Cavalier Spaniel mix. He's 11 weeks old and currently weighs about 8 pounds, he should be around 35 pounds fully grown. I know it will be an adjustment for a while as he gets potty trained etc but we are so excited. 😂 Wish us luck! 🤪
Cheese is good! I ate a block of chipotle oven baked cheese with lunch yesterday and it was divine. I love it, but know that it halts any progress I'm making, and will even trigger eating in excess to where I'll gain weight. It's sad but I have accepted it. If I eat it in small quantities with a meal, it's ok, but I really have to work to keep it in check.
What's your favorite cheese? How do you incorporate it? Do you see negative results when eating it?
Happy Sunday! Sharing a video today from our week, one of the highlights. This was Wednesday evening church, normally they have a more casual prayer meeting where someone plays the guitar, but they were doing some construction in the fellowship hall so they had their prayer meeting in the sanctuary. No one was there to play the piano so my my Grandma did it, she's been playing the piano in church for probably 80 years.
For context, she's 88, she had a really bad fall 5 years ago now and hit her head and ended up with a lot setbacks, similar to having a stroke. She has a lot of dementia like symptoms also (I am sure related to her Type 2 diabetes), she really can't read music anymore, and she has trouble seeing well, and she needs to wear hearing aids to hear but hates wearing them, so on this night she didn't want to wear them. My 93 (almost 94) year old grandpa takes care of both of them on their farm. Anyway, on this night she sat down on the piano and led worship as people called ...
Happy Sunday!! Due to the leak and repairs we are going to be dealing with all week, I am going to go check into a hotel for a few days to work/sleep etc. We aren't going to be able to sleep in our bedroom while they dry out our floors, and I am in the middle of some big projects at work currently I need quiet during the day for meetings. The kids might come stay with me at night too depending on how it's going. Anyway, since it's going to be a very chaotic week ahead, I am going to wait and do my YouTube Livestream on Thursday instead of today. This will just let me have some family time this afternoon before the crazy week.
If you are shopping for Equip, they made me change my code this week, so it's just LAURASPATH without the E in the middle anymore. Which is probably easier anyway. 😂 I grabbed 2 more bags of the banana protein for the kids before it sells out forever. https://www.equipfoods.com/LAURASPATH
Headed to volunteer for one service and attend the other this ...
Happy Saturday!! We are in the calm before the chaos in terms of construction and repairs, several people coming to start fixing things Monday so we are trying to find have a normal weekend before we have to deal with that for the next few weeks.
I am taking Penelope to lunch and a musical today and Chris and Nathaniel as the going to hang out. Church tomorrow and then I will do a YouTube Livestream in the afternoon. Hope you have a great weekend!
What are your plans for the weekend?
Trying to keep it simple this weekend. Last room of carpet is finally in. Feels like a weight off my shoulders as that was a huge project done. I look forward to putting the house back together before school starts. Today I enjoyed juicy eggs, pickles...I ate several then had some electrolytes as it dawned on me I needed the salt, Ribeye. I would of ate more ribeye as I also made shrimp so there was some left but my son who requested the shrimp put the portion of his steak back in with the other steaks. Sorry Satan no cross contamination for me today. My husband made sure to point it out and educate him on why cross contamination can be serious with someone with a allergy.
