Hi All,
I joined the May challenge but have been lurking in the group reading posts and getting to know how the whole Locals thing works. (I'm very low tech.)
Figured it was time to introduce myself. A little about me. I've tried several diets over the years, you name it I've probably tried it. Each would work for a couple weeks but eventually I would fall off and gain every ounce and more back. For several years I've had stomach and digestive issues which my doctors could not figure out. Then I started having joint issues, knee pain, shoulder pain, bursitis in both hips. More doctors, more tests, told to lose weight, sent to nutritionist who put me on SAD diet and told to get cortisone shots. Nothing helped.
While doing my own research about a month ago to try and alleviate my joint pain, I stumbled upon a video from Dr. Berry and Neisha about the 7 inflammatory foods to avoid. Not one of my doctors ever told me about these. At first I thought this man has done gone and lost his mind (don't hate me). Raw vegetables wouldn't hurt me...I mean I was putting extra spinach in my salads because it was good for me!
I rolled my eyes during the video but decided what can it hurt. I had to get my joint pain under control because I slept like a rotisserie chicken never able to be comfortable, tossing and turning. So I tried it for 2 weeks, cut all 7 although I'm still working on my nemesis (dairy). Guess what happened?! My joint pain went from 9/10 pain level to 3 or 4/10. And guess what else happened?! Stomach and gut issues almost gone! I was shocked. SHOCKED I tell you! I wasn't even trying to help those. I was just trying to help my hips and get some sleep!
Long story short, I fell off that and all my issues came back. Soooo.... I'm here for the May challenge hoping I can stick to this. I started April 28th. Not sure what my beast mode is other than sticking to Carnivore.
Any tips, tricks, hints to help stay focused for May and beyond are welcome!
Yesterday we surprised the kids and brought home a puppy!! They have been begging for one for years and we felt like the time was right to bring one home.
Meet Angus 🐕 He's a Golden Retriever/King Charles Cavalier Spaniel mix. He's 11 weeks old and currently weighs about 8 pounds, he should be around 35 pounds fully grown. I know it will be an adjustment for a while as he gets potty trained etc but we are so excited. 😂 Wish us luck! 🤪
Cheese is good! I ate a block of chipotle oven baked cheese with lunch yesterday and it was divine. I love it, but know that it halts any progress I'm making, and will even trigger eating in excess to where I'll gain weight. It's sad but I have accepted it. If I eat it in small quantities with a meal, it's ok, but I really have to work to keep it in check.
What's your favorite cheese? How do you incorporate it? Do you see negative results when eating it?
Happy Sunday! Sharing a video today from our week, one of the highlights. This was Wednesday evening church, normally they have a more casual prayer meeting where someone plays the guitar, but they were doing some construction in the fellowship hall so they had their prayer meeting in the sanctuary. No one was there to play the piano so my my Grandma did it, she's been playing the piano in church for probably 80 years.
For context, she's 88, she had a really bad fall 5 years ago now and hit her head and ended up with a lot setbacks, similar to having a stroke. She has a lot of dementia like symptoms also (I am sure related to her Type 2 diabetes), she really can't read music anymore, and she has trouble seeing well, and she needs to wear hearing aids to hear but hates wearing them, so on this night she didn't want to wear them. My 93 (almost 94) year old grandpa takes care of both of them on their farm. Anyway, on this night she sat down on the piano and led worship as people called ...
Happy Wednesday! Today is the last day of my conference and I fly home this evening. It's been a good trip but after traveling for a few days I am always so glad to just eat at home again. No matter how much food I bring with me there is nothing like a home grilled steak. I would much rather just eat at home most of the time.
We have lots of new people in this group and some that have been doing this for a while. What is your go-to meal when you are eating out? Share below and help give people some ideas on how to eat out and not get off track.
Ended my fast at 22 hours. I had planned on going until breakfast but ended up having supper. I had my leftover bone in ribeye from Monday night. So good!
Blood sugar has been good the past few morning. Here’s my log. I’m not sure what caused that spike on Monday morning, but all the numbers around it were lower than my average.
