I went to my doctor yesterday to discuss meds and show her my bloodwork. Last month while there she mentioned probably wanting to increase my Mounjaro at this visit. She knows I was not happy about that.
After looking at my bloodwork that I posted her on Tuesday, she was very proud of me and sees no reason to change anything we are doing. I discussed with her possible trying to conceive towards the end of the year and asked 2 questions with that goal in mind. One, did she think I was on track to be healthy “enough” to carry safely. Two, what that would look like med wise. She said she thought that if I continued on this path that I would be healthy enough. She said I need to be off 3 of my meds 2 months before getting pregnant so I need to keep that in mind before trying. She suggested starting a prenatal vitamin now and start using ovulation test strips to try to find my days for a few months so I’ll have a good idea.
I’ve never cared about my diabetes until now where I feel like I could reverse it. I’m 42 so it’s now or never.
Yesterday we surprised the kids and brought home a puppy!! They have been begging for one for years and we felt like the time was right to bring one home.
Meet Angus 🐕 He's a Golden Retriever/King Charles Cavalier Spaniel mix. He's 11 weeks old and currently weighs about 8 pounds, he should be around 35 pounds fully grown. I know it will be an adjustment for a while as he gets potty trained etc but we are so excited. 😂 Wish us luck! 🤪
Cheese is good! I ate a block of chipotle oven baked cheese with lunch yesterday and it was divine. I love it, but know that it halts any progress I'm making, and will even trigger eating in excess to where I'll gain weight. It's sad but I have accepted it. If I eat it in small quantities with a meal, it's ok, but I really have to work to keep it in check.
What's your favorite cheese? How do you incorporate it? Do you see negative results when eating it?
Happy Sunday! Sharing a video today from our week, one of the highlights. This was Wednesday evening church, normally they have a more casual prayer meeting where someone plays the guitar, but they were doing some construction in the fellowship hall so they had their prayer meeting in the sanctuary. No one was there to play the piano so my my Grandma did it, she's been playing the piano in church for probably 80 years.
For context, she's 88, she had a really bad fall 5 years ago now and hit her head and ended up with a lot setbacks, similar to having a stroke. She has a lot of dementia like symptoms also (I am sure related to her Type 2 diabetes), she really can't read music anymore, and she has trouble seeing well, and she needs to wear hearing aids to hear but hates wearing them, so on this night she didn't want to wear them. My 93 (almost 94) year old grandpa takes care of both of them on their farm. Anyway, on this night she sat down on the piano and led worship as people called ...
Happy Thursday!! We talk a lot about short term goals and monthly wins etc, I think focusing on those is very helpful in building motivation and keeping you on track. In this group, at least we rarely look at the full growth of our entire journey. I thought that might be something fun to share today, especially considering we have some new people in the group. Plus the downside to really focusing on one month at a time and lots of short-term goals is that when we're feeling stuck, we forget how far we've truly come.
So today, share the biggest improvements or positive changes you've seen since starting Carnivore/low carb, (or whatever works for you). Also share how long it took to see those changes, that can be very encouraging to show people what can happen when you stick to a healthy lifestyle!!
Good morning. Yesterday and today I am subbing for our cook so I am working a full day which I am not used to so I am sleeping good. Yesterday I made a couple beef ribs in the crockpot (my favorite way to make them myself) and ate some random leftovers. Tonight I am smoking chicken thighs for the family but I will eat some leftover chuck roast and eggs. I am finally back to feeling like I did before I got sick. I hope everyone has a great Thursday!
