Happy Sunday! Chris and I went out on a date night last night, to a comedy show of course. Chris loves going to concerts, but I definitely do not enjoy the crowds and loud noise and that type of thing. I mostly enjoy staying home or sometimes going to the theater, which is not Chris's ideal night out. 😂 But we both very much enjoy seeing comedy shows and that has been a bonding area for us. That is our favorite choice of something to do for a date night since neither of us eats dinner and we don't like to pay for steak in a restaurant.
This was a big shift for us, pre-carnivore we used to go out to new restaurants, find new dessert places, and Chris used to bake for me all the time if you can believe that. It took us a while to relearn how to spend an evening out together that wasn't centered around carbs. Pictures below are from last night (we are currently 40 and 50 years old), and the second picture is from 10 years ago (when we were 30 and 40 years old).
What are things you enjoy doing with friends or our spouse or family that aren't centered around food or carbs?
Cheese is good! I ate a block of chipotle oven baked cheese with lunch yesterday and it was divine. I love it, but know that it halts any progress I'm making, and will even trigger eating in excess to where I'll gain weight. It's sad but I have accepted it. If I eat it in small quantities with a meal, it's ok, but I really have to work to keep it in check.
What's your favorite cheese? How do you incorporate it? Do you see negative results when eating it?
Happy Sunday! Sharing a video today from our week, one of the highlights. This was Wednesday evening church, normally they have a more casual prayer meeting where someone plays the guitar, but they were doing some construction in the fellowship hall so they had their prayer meeting in the sanctuary. No one was there to play the piano so my my Grandma did it, she's been playing the piano in church for probably 80 years.
For context, she's 88, she had a really bad fall 5 years ago now and hit her head and ended up with a lot setbacks, similar to having a stroke. She has a lot of dementia like symptoms also (I am sure related to her Type 2 diabetes), she really can't read music anymore, and she has trouble seeing well, and she needs to wear hearing aids to hear but hates wearing them, so on this night she didn't want to wear them. My 93 (almost 94) year old grandpa takes care of both of them on their farm. Anyway, on this night she sat down on the piano and led worship as people called ...
Happy Saturday! I hope you are all doing well. I know some people in the group have had some recent tough news for themselves or family members. It really puts the day to day issues we face into perspective, and reminds me to just focus on doing the best I can to be as healthy as possible. To those who are having a hard time, we are all here for you and sending you some prayers and support. 🙏🏼🙏🏼 Just focus today on doing the best you can and remember that food isn't going to bring you the comfort you are looking for.
Here is a little video of Penelopes performance from her piano recital l last night, she's been taking lessons for about a year and a half. 🎹🤍🖤

Merry Christmas From the Spaths! ✝️🎄🎁 From our family to yours, I hope you have a wonderful Christmas.
Merry Christmas Everyone!! Making new Christmas traditions this year. We have enjoying playing Farkle Christmas Eve for hrs while snacking on my first meat/cheese trays. Today we took a few walks since it was warmer.
Accountability
1. 1 meal today - a few pieces of salami & cheese & 4 olives, prime rib with horseradish, scallops, sugar free broccoli salad, 2 deviled eggs, 1 small sugar free pumpkin square, 2 cups coffee with hwc
Exercise: went for a 30 minute walk by the bay after dinner with the family
I made all the food so knew exactly what I ate. I feel great about it. I did decide to allow myself a tiny 2 inch square of a pumpkin bar and 2 spoonfuls of broccoli salad. I avoided the sugar & chemical filled desserts & rolls and the casseroles I would have devoured before. And the best part is I DIDNT EVEN CARE! I feel great after and I sent everything home with them except the deviled eggs & the leftover meat & seafood! I’m one happy lady, great time with my family.
Hope everyone had a great day! My great granddaughter Amelia, she turns 4 in 3 days is a delightful, happy little girl! We had a wonderful time with her.
