Happy Monday! How was your weekend? I am headed to Austin for a few days for a work trip. As usual I am bringing some food with me just in case, but since this is a place I travel to often I kind of have my food routine dialed in.
What does a typical week look like for you? Will things be routine this week for you or are you traveling or having an out of the norm week? We all just picked our non-negotiable for August so let's keep things simple this week and focus on that. Also as a reminder, if you haven't already taken your pictures for August!! That's the best way to track your progress and notice changes. (I didn't realize how much my kids grew this year until I looked at those First Day/Last Day of school pictures)
Final reminder, today is the last day to sign up for the 'Carnivore Made Simple' course, Dr. Westman is kicking things off tomorrow night with a Livestream. Code LAURA gets you a discount on the course. https://adaptyourlifeacademy.com/carnivore-made-simple/
I hope you have a great week!
Cheese is good! I ate a block of chipotle oven baked cheese with lunch yesterday and it was divine. I love it, but know that it halts any progress I'm making, and will even trigger eating in excess to where I'll gain weight. It's sad but I have accepted it. If I eat it in small quantities with a meal, it's ok, but I really have to work to keep it in check.
What's your favorite cheese? How do you incorporate it? Do you see negative results when eating it?
Happy Sunday! Sharing a video today from our week, one of the highlights. This was Wednesday evening church, normally they have a more casual prayer meeting where someone plays the guitar, but they were doing some construction in the fellowship hall so they had their prayer meeting in the sanctuary. No one was there to play the piano so my my Grandma did it, she's been playing the piano in church for probably 80 years.
For context, she's 88, she had a really bad fall 5 years ago now and hit her head and ended up with a lot setbacks, similar to having a stroke. She has a lot of dementia like symptoms also (I am sure related to her Type 2 diabetes), she really can't read music anymore, and she has trouble seeing well, and she needs to wear hearing aids to hear but hates wearing them, so on this night she didn't want to wear them. My 93 (almost 94) year old grandpa takes care of both of them on their farm. Anyway, on this night she sat down on the piano and led worship as people called ...
Happy Saturday! I hope you are all doing well. I know some people in the group have had some recent tough news for themselves or family members. It really puts the day to day issues we face into perspective, and reminds me to just focus on doing the best I can to be as healthy as possible. To those who are having a hard time, we are all here for you and sending you some prayers and support. 🙏🏼🙏🏼 Just focus today on doing the best you can and remember that food isn't going to bring you the comfort you are looking for.
Here is a little video of Penelopes performance from her piano recital l last night, she's been taking lessons for about a year and a half. 🎹🤍🖤
*Livestream Monday night at 4pm pst/7pm est
Just me and the kids all week here. They've been working hard on school projects and we've all been craving our favorite restaurant for a while now so we took a drive to Fogo De Chao for lunch (had a coupon, join their email list). We all got stuffed on all the meats.
If you've had Brazilian, what's your favorite meat? If not, what's your go to restaurant?
Was craving enchiladas so I used egg life wraps for tortillas. Seasoned my ground beef and layered it with cheese. Then poured just about 1/4 cup of salsa verde into the blender with sour cream and blended it for the sauce. Baked at 400 for 20 min. It was high protein and delicious. A bit dairy heavy so a treat meal for sure but it hit the spot and my family was thankful for a meal that felt like normal.
Happy Thursday Evening!
Yesterday got away from me and this morning too, so here I am now.
One thing, Lymphatic Flu is a thing! I rebounded for 20 mins yesterday and got on the inversion table twice. I felt so yucky in the night and then this morning. I thought I was having a relapse on the Cvd. And then all of a sudden I started feeling better and stayed there. A chiropractic adjustment and I'm a good 90% recovered. Still congested with some coughing but so much better!
Yesterday I fasted over lunch and did the Wm run instead.
Dinner was leftover ribeye fajitas. Mine with avocado and cheese and sour cream.
Today is National Cheeseburger Day! I had a free double cheeseburger from Dairy Queen. Ok, you don't have to twist my arm, I'll bite. So that was lunch.
Dinner tonight was Cheese and Bacon Omelets. I also had 2 chicken sausages. Amylu brand. They are pretty good but not outstanding. I'll probably only have them occasionally to add to lunches.
I also made some hardcooked eggs for ...
