Happy Thursday! Thankfully today is the last day of my conference and I fly home this afternoon, I was even able to get an earlier flight home so I will be home early evening now.
Thankfully I have NO travel on the horizon, which after 5 weeks of travel in the last 6 weeks I am ready for a long stretch at home.
Today is the 15th, we are officially halfway through the month and halfway through this Beast Mode Challenge. How are things going? What is going well? Any places you are getting stuck?
Cheese is good! I ate a block of chipotle oven baked cheese with lunch yesterday and it was divine. I love it, but know that it halts any progress I'm making, and will even trigger eating in excess to where I'll gain weight. It's sad but I have accepted it. If I eat it in small quantities with a meal, it's ok, but I really have to work to keep it in check.
What's your favorite cheese? How do you incorporate it? Do you see negative results when eating it?
Happy Sunday! Sharing a video today from our week, one of the highlights. This was Wednesday evening church, normally they have a more casual prayer meeting where someone plays the guitar, but they were doing some construction in the fellowship hall so they had their prayer meeting in the sanctuary. No one was there to play the piano so my my Grandma did it, she's been playing the piano in church for probably 80 years.
For context, she's 88, she had a really bad fall 5 years ago now and hit her head and ended up with a lot setbacks, similar to having a stroke. She has a lot of dementia like symptoms also (I am sure related to her Type 2 diabetes), she really can't read music anymore, and she has trouble seeing well, and she needs to wear hearing aids to hear but hates wearing them, so on this night she didn't want to wear them. My 93 (almost 94) year old grandpa takes care of both of them on their farm. Anyway, on this night she sat down on the piano and led worship as people called ...
Happy Saturday! I hope you are all doing well. I know some people in the group have had some recent tough news for themselves or family members. It really puts the day to day issues we face into perspective, and reminds me to just focus on doing the best I can to be as healthy as possible. To those who are having a hard time, we are all here for you and sending you some prayers and support. 🙏🏼🙏🏼 Just focus today on doing the best you can and remember that food isn't going to bring you the comfort you are looking for.
Here is a little video of Penelopes performance from her piano recital l last night, she's been taking lessons for about a year and a half. 🎹🤍🖤
*Livestream Monday night at 4pm pst/7pm est
Happy Saturday! We are halfway through the month, how are things going so far? It's okay if things aren't going perfect, it doesn't mean the month is a loss. This time of year it's important to just take every day one at a time.
My biggest advice to keep the wheels on the track this time of year is to keep things simple and focus on 3 things: food, movement, and sleep. They might not all 3 be perfect everyday, but just think of those 3 things like a check list for your day. Eat food that makes you feel best, move your body, and prioritize sleep. Which of those 3 is the hardest for you?
Happy Friday!! Thankfully I had a very uneventful work trip and 2 on time flights! 🙌🏼 It was a travel miracle!! I slept pretty terrible the last couple nights so hoping to get some good rest this weekend.
I am working this morning and then the kids and I have fun plans this weekend while Chris is gone, decorating the inside for Christmas!! 🎄 Normally we wait till closer to Thanksgiving, but it's so late this year, and we have time this weekend. Plus the kids have been begging to do it asap. Have you started decorating yet? What are your plans for the weekend?
I was really upset yesterday because I get so frustrated about our health system...I was at my endocrinologist about my thyroid yesterday and a gentleman came out of the back where the exam rooms are in a wheelchair, very overweight and one of his legs wrapped. It looks as though it was recently amputated. I just wanted to hug him and say "It doesn't have to be like this". Then I got mad because the TV was playing what I call "propaganda health news". Talking about "healthy" recipes for your diabetes management that aren't healthy. It was a sort of turkey roll up with a tortilla and apples 😑, and "ask your doctor for more information about xx drug to see if it can help you". There was also a snack recipe for kids that was a sugar bomb of bananas and some other high sugar fruit. I am pretty sure my dr doesn't advise proper lifestyle and food choices because when he told me I was pre-diabetic, the first thing he said was that he can prescribe me some weight loss drugs. I told him ...
