Happy Monday! I flew to Houston last night for a conference this week, I will be here through Thursday emceeing the event.
How are you doing with the Beast Mode Challenge for May? If you've fallen off it's still a good time to reset and finish the month strong. It's not all or nothing, we still have more than half the month left! What is your non-negotiable for the week?
Cheese is good! I ate a block of chipotle oven baked cheese with lunch yesterday and it was divine. I love it, but know that it halts any progress I'm making, and will even trigger eating in excess to where I'll gain weight. It's sad but I have accepted it. If I eat it in small quantities with a meal, it's ok, but I really have to work to keep it in check.
What's your favorite cheese? How do you incorporate it? Do you see negative results when eating it?
Happy Sunday! Sharing a video today from our week, one of the highlights. This was Wednesday evening church, normally they have a more casual prayer meeting where someone plays the guitar, but they were doing some construction in the fellowship hall so they had their prayer meeting in the sanctuary. No one was there to play the piano so my my Grandma did it, she's been playing the piano in church for probably 80 years.
For context, she's 88, she had a really bad fall 5 years ago now and hit her head and ended up with a lot setbacks, similar to having a stroke. She has a lot of dementia like symptoms also (I am sure related to her Type 2 diabetes), she really can't read music anymore, and she has trouble seeing well, and she needs to wear hearing aids to hear but hates wearing them, so on this night she didn't want to wear them. My 93 (almost 94) year old grandpa takes care of both of them on their farm. Anyway, on this night she sat down on the piano and led worship as people called ...
Happy Saturday! I hope you are all doing well. I know some people in the group have had some recent tough news for themselves or family members. It really puts the day to day issues we face into perspective, and reminds me to just focus on doing the best I can to be as healthy as possible. To those who are having a hard time, we are all here for you and sending you some prayers and support. 🙏🏼🙏🏼 Just focus today on doing the best you can and remember that food isn't going to bring you the comfort you are looking for.
Here is a little video of Penelopes performance from her piano recital l last night, she's been taking lessons for about a year and a half. 🎹🤍🖤
*Livestream Monday night at 4pm pst/7pm est
Happy Friday!! Thankfully I had a very uneventful work trip and 2 on time flights! 🙌🏼 It was a travel miracle!! I slept pretty terrible the last couple nights so hoping to get some good rest this weekend.
I am working this morning and then the kids and I have fun plans this weekend while Chris is gone, decorating the inside for Christmas!! 🎄 Normally we wait till closer to Thanksgiving, but it's so late this year, and we have time this weekend. Plus the kids have been begging to do it asap. Have you started decorating yet? What are your plans for the weekend?
Good morning! I took today off because I’m going away for a scrapbook weekend- well, 30 min away but spending the whole time there. It will be a challenge! Everyone brings snacks to share and so much junk! I will bring some meats and cheeses but this will be hard. One thing that will keep me on track is if I give in to carbs, I will be so gassy and won’t want to smell up the crop room- or our sleeping room because I’m sharing with a friend. 🤣 Breakfast is included so I only have 4 meals total to plan and I’m brining some food and will have BWW across the parking lot as a treat. I might get some Aldi brand Whisps too as a special treat. I need to stay on track!
I’m looking forward to just being away from daily chores and working on my photos. 😁
Happy Friday!
Laura's on a 36 hour work trip so the kids and I are solo, then I'm off to California for the weekend for some boys time. Below is lunch the kids and I had yesterday. Nathaniel is obsessed with chili lime chicken so I made him some, then a NY strip and bacon cheeseburger patties for Penelope and I. We miss mama but she's out there crushing it for us. This weekend when I'm away, food will be a challenge but I'm at a place where my friends respect it and always have some options around. I'm sure I won't be perfect, but it won't be a spiral that's for sure.
It's supposed to rain here all weekend (very rare), what's your go to when you can't grill or just want something comforting on a dreary day?
