Accountability post: My non negotiable for September was to post my macros every day and I made it. 🙂. By tracking macros, I learned a lot. For instance, todays macro show 22 carbs but they are from protein powder and dairy. Time to fine tune what I eat. On to October!
Yesterday we surprised the kids and brought home a puppy!! They have been begging for one for years and we felt like the time was right to bring one home.
Meet Angus 🐕 He's a Golden Retriever/King Charles Cavalier Spaniel mix. He's 11 weeks old and currently weighs about 8 pounds, he should be around 35 pounds fully grown. I know it will be an adjustment for a while as he gets potty trained etc but we are so excited. 😂 Wish us luck! 🤪
Cheese is good! I ate a block of chipotle oven baked cheese with lunch yesterday and it was divine. I love it, but know that it halts any progress I'm making, and will even trigger eating in excess to where I'll gain weight. It's sad but I have accepted it. If I eat it in small quantities with a meal, it's ok, but I really have to work to keep it in check.
What's your favorite cheese? How do you incorporate it? Do you see negative results when eating it?
Happy Sunday! Sharing a video today from our week, one of the highlights. This was Wednesday evening church, normally they have a more casual prayer meeting where someone plays the guitar, but they were doing some construction in the fellowship hall so they had their prayer meeting in the sanctuary. No one was there to play the piano so my my Grandma did it, she's been playing the piano in church for probably 80 years.
For context, she's 88, she had a really bad fall 5 years ago now and hit her head and ended up with a lot setbacks, similar to having a stroke. She has a lot of dementia like symptoms also (I am sure related to her Type 2 diabetes), she really can't read music anymore, and she has trouble seeing well, and she needs to wear hearing aids to hear but hates wearing them, so on this night she didn't want to wear them. My 93 (almost 94) year old grandpa takes care of both of them on their farm. Anyway, on this night she sat down on the piano and led worship as people called ...
These beef prices have me about as hot as the Arizona summer heat we have right now. Laura grabbed me that NY strip primal from Costco, which for these days, is a decent prices at 11.99lb. I remember a few years ago it was 8.99lb. I cut it into steaks and vacuum sealed them. Today I took a drive to Wild Fork (Don't sleep on this place if you have one!) for my favorite cut, which oddly is cheaper. Grabbed 4 picanha at 9.98lb to finish my stock up. I was paying 5.74lb at Walmart for it about 3 years ago. Even chuck is over 7lb these days. It's out of hand. I'm sure you're all feeling the pinch as well.
Other than the overall inflation the past few years, what do think is driving this? Share any cost cutting ideas or secrets you have. I always do a separate cheap meat (chicken, pork) to keep cost down but I have to start cutting beef back even more. Breaks my heart.
Just checking in.
Summer has begun for me and it seems to be more busy than when I’m working! Some of that is sleeping an hour or so later and easing my way into the day but lots of cleaning, errands, and helping out family since I’m off.
Summer school and baby shower is over and now going to WI on Saturday- the kids and fiancé will be there too so will not be very restful. My sisters family wants to visit too- plus 5 more possibly!
Then I will be there for a week by myself which will be my vacation!
My very pregnant daughter and fiancé will be moving next door-across the driveway!!!- on July 20 so will help her pack and move. Then I’ll go back up to WI until she goes into labor. It’s a 5 hour drive so I’ll just pack up and go. I should make the birth!
I am not making any progress on the scale. 😖 I think it’s both stress this past school year (especially last month) plus my age in the throes on menopause. I am going to ramp it up the month of July with some fasting and ...
Happy Monday!!! We are officially back and settled in! Thankfully we had a very smooth trip (minus the orthodontist issues), but I couldn't have asked for a better vacation. Chris and I both weighed when we got home, and after 12 days of travel we both weigh the exact same thing as when we left. 😅 We probably ate more than we normally do, but we also were really active as well (except on the travel days). I don't feel "bad" but I know that after so much travel I'll feel a lot better in a couple days after eating at home and sleeping in my own bed for a few days.
Now today is back to work today, and back to reality, and back to a Livestream this evening!! Share below what your non-negotiable is for this week and then come hang out on the Livestream and we can catch up!!
