Happy Saturday! I listened to a podcast yesterday that had an interesting nugget in it. They were talking about daily wins and motivation and said:
"You've already achieved goals you said would make you happy, how can you presume that your happiness sits on the Next side of the Next set of goals given that right now you are on the other side of your last set of goals."
That totally hit home for me and brought out some good reminders. How many times have we said "I'll be happy when..." but then they thing happens we are already moving on to the NEXT thing they will supposedly make us happy.
I spent so much of my life thinking "I'll be happy WHEN I lose the weight." Or just waiting to make any plans because I kept thinking "Once I lose the weight I'll...". "I just want to lose 20 pounds THEN I'll feel good about myself." Has that ever worked??

It's important that we re-wire our value system. The key is to learn happiness WHILE your succeeding. Embrace the journey. Focus on lifestyle changes you enjoy that you can sustain long term.
In building momentum remember that 'All Wins Feel the Same' on an emotional level. Instead of having your goal be "lose 50 pounds"...focus on losing 1 or 2 pounds, and then be proud of that win!! Then set another small goal. Those daily wins and small goals create a winning mindset and from a scientific level it WILL improve your motivation and drive! This is why the non-negotiable is so important for me, I need to find a way to give myself an easy win daily. Set yourself up for success by giving yourself a win today. Have an amazing day!
Happy Saturday! I hope you are all doing well. I know some people in the group have had some recent tough news for themselves or family members. It really puts the day to day issues we face into perspective, and reminds me to just focus on doing the best I can to be as healthy as possible. To those who are having a hard time, we are all here for you and sending you some prayers and support. 🙏🏼🙏🏼 Just focus today on doing the best you can and remember that food isn't going to bring you the comfort you are looking for.
Here is a little video of Penelopes performance from her piano recital l last night, she's been taking lessons for about a year and a half. 🎹🤍🖤

Thinking about the year ahead can be overwhelming when it comes to goal setting. For some people, like me, short term goals can be much more motivating. Right now it's beast mode through the Meetup this Saturday. That said, I do still have long term goals for the year. Staying carnivore is just a given now as it's my life already so I have to dive a little deeper for me. I'd like to stay in the same weight range but lower my body fat a bit. Gain some muscle mass in short. Gym at least 4 times a week and beast mode at the same time is my recipe.
Steak video for interest. 🤪
Do you do better with short or long term goals?
So sorry guys, my 2 1/2 hour drive home from the cabin is turning into a 5+ hour drive home so I am not going to make it in time to Livestream tonight. I'll post the link for the Dr Berry Livestream for tomorrow when I know it. I'll catch up on posts here when I get home if you have any questions.
HAPPY FRIDAY! 🎉 We came up to the cabin yesterday with my Mom, I am excited to spend a fun (cooler) weekend up here. Last night we took a 1.5 mile walk together with all 5 of us, then Chris and I dropped off my Mom and kids at the house and made the same 1.5 mile walk again. We even did a sprint up the last big hill, Chris is pretty fast for an old man. 🤪😂
We plan to just spend lots of time outside enjoying the beautiful weather this weekend. What are your weekend plans?
I just made myself some LMNT. It's a fraction of the cost and so delicious. I use redmonds real salt and grind it in my bullet to make a powder. I drink the unflavored but I make the chocolate for my daughter and son-in-law. Below is the recipe. I make half the recipe. It's more than enough to last me quite a while. The stevia for the chocolate is organic powdered stevia that I get from Amazon. I buy the magnesium and potassium from Amazon as well. I buy the Bulk brand. It's quick and easy to make and is a tremendously cost effective.
Spent last weekend with my buddies from California. We rode out in the forest, did some shooting and grilled back at the cabin. Total great time. One thing that's hard for me to get over is watching them live their lives, eating whatever they want and drinking 100 beers a weekend, yet being in shape and relatively good health. Sure it will catch up to them at some point, but it causes some frustration in me knowing how hard I have to work everyday just to feel good and maintain. I did have a few low carb seltzers and paid for it for sure. It's taken me a long time to accept that I just can't have that life. I burned my body out too fast and now I have to pay it back.
Below is the skirt steak and chicken I grilled for tacos (I skipped the tortillas ☹️)
Does this also drive you nuts sometimes? How do you process it?
