I hope you are having a wonderful weekend. We had a wonderful last few days with Judy and her family who flew in for a couple days. Nathaniel got quite the surprise for his birthday by having his friends show up, it was special they were able to spend the day at the zoo with us before they left.
Today we have church, lunch, and some other family things going on. My Mom flies home Monday and I leave for Austin at the same time. With my work trip and Ketcon travel I won't be able to do a Livestream this week but as soon as I get back I will do a recap and share all about it with you. I also talked to Neanderthal and they have agreed to provide 2 cutting board plates for a giveaway during that Livestream. I think it is going to be on Tuesday April 25th but I'll keep you posted as it gets closer.
How is your weekend going? What is one thing you are doing today to set yourself up for a successful week?
Cheese is good! I ate a block of chipotle oven baked cheese with lunch yesterday and it was divine. I love it, but know that it halts any progress I'm making, and will even trigger eating in excess to where I'll gain weight. It's sad but I have accepted it. If I eat it in small quantities with a meal, it's ok, but I really have to work to keep it in check.
What's your favorite cheese? How do you incorporate it? Do you see negative results when eating it?
Happy Sunday! Sharing a video today from our week, one of the highlights. This was Wednesday evening church, normally they have a more casual prayer meeting where someone plays the guitar, but they were doing some construction in the fellowship hall so they had their prayer meeting in the sanctuary. No one was there to play the piano so my my Grandma did it, she's been playing the piano in church for probably 80 years.
For context, she's 88, she had a really bad fall 5 years ago now and hit her head and ended up with a lot setbacks, similar to having a stroke. She has a lot of dementia like symptoms also (I am sure related to her Type 2 diabetes), she really can't read music anymore, and she has trouble seeing well, and she needs to wear hearing aids to hear but hates wearing them, so on this night she didn't want to wear them. My 93 (almost 94) year old grandpa takes care of both of them on their farm. Anyway, on this night she sat down on the piano and led worship as people called ...
Happy Saturday! I hope you are all doing well. I know some people in the group have had some recent tough news for themselves or family members. It really puts the day to day issues we face into perspective, and reminds me to just focus on doing the best I can to be as healthy as possible. To those who are having a hard time, we are all here for you and sending you some prayers and support. 🙏🏼🙏🏼 Just focus today on doing the best you can and remember that food isn't going to bring you the comfort you are looking for.
Here is a little video of Penelopes performance from her piano recital l last night, she's been taking lessons for about a year and a half. 🎹🤍🖤
*Livestream Monday night at 4pm pst/7pm est
The week between Christmas and New Year's is always the most confusing week of the year, I keep forgetting what day it is. 😂 We spent the majority of the day outside yesterday enjoying the beautiful weather.
How are you feeling this week? Struggling to stay on track? Waiting for January 1st to reset? Have you started thinking about your January goals yet?
Here are some pictures of our lunch from yesterday.
My hubby got me this shirt for Christmas! We have my nieces birthday party today so this will be worn....lol!
Yesterday I got back into the gym for the first time in about 9 months! I switched to a different gym that is less than a mile from where I live and has some great amenities, so I'm hoping that will help my consistency. I'm also using a strength training program that has me in the gym six days a week for only about 20-30 minutes each session. Again, I'm hoping having it be a short part of my daily routine will help my consistency (versus trying to go for 1 hour sessions 2-3 times per week).
Unfortunately, for a few weeks now, I've been struggling with low back and hip pain, which was slowly getting better. Activity helps (which has greatly helped me build my walking habit; being too sedentary is now literally causing pain in my backside). However, after yesterday's strength training workout-it was squats and romanian deadlifts-and even though I kept the weight super light, I'm feeling it today. Since activity helps, I intend to engage in gentle movement today and focus on upper body...
