Big Day!

Yesterday we surprised the kids and brought home a puppy!! They have been begging for one for years and we felt like the time was right to bring one home.

Meet Angus 🐕 He's a Golden Retriever/King Charles Cavalier Spaniel mix. He's 11 weeks old and currently weighs about 8 pounds, he should be around 35 pounds fully grown. I know it will be an adjustment for a while as he gets potty trained etc but we are so excited. 😂 Wish us luck! 🤪

Cheese is good! I ate a block of chipotle oven baked cheese with lunch yesterday and it was divine. I love it, but know that it halts any progress I'm making, and will even trigger eating in excess to where I'll gain weight. It's sad but I have accepted it. If I eat it in small quantities with a meal, it's ok, but I really have to work to keep it in check.

What's your favorite cheese? How do you incorporate it? Do you see negative results when eating it?

Happy Sunday! Sharing a video today from our week, one of the highlights. This was Wednesday evening church, normally they have a more casual prayer meeting where someone plays the guitar, but they were doing some construction in the fellowship hall so they had their prayer meeting in the sanctuary. No one was there to play the piano so my my Grandma did it, she's been playing the piano in church for probably 80 years.

For context, she's 88, she had a really bad fall 5 years ago now and hit her head and ended up with a lot setbacks, similar to having a stroke. She has a lot of dementia like symptoms also (I am sure related to her Type 2 diabetes), she really can't read music anymore, and she has trouble seeing well, and she needs to wear hearing aids to hear but hates wearing them, so on this night she didn't want to wear them. My 93 (almost 94) year old grandpa takes care of both of them on their farm. Anyway, on this night she sat down on the piano and led worship as people called ...

Happy Monday!! Day 4 of our Beast Mode Challenge! My friend and I ended up going to a Brazilian steakhouse last night. It was the perfect place to load up on meat before a busy week.

I hope you are feeling strong and confident headed into the week ahead. I love hearing about everybody's beast mode goals. However, don't forget to pick one very simple non-negotiable thing to focus on. That way when your day doesn't go as perfectly as you planned, or when you "fail" on some of your beast mode goals... You can still focus on your non-negotiable to give yourself that daily win.

Remember we don't have to do everything right all the time but the most important thing is to keep moving forward. Don't let things not going perfectly have you give up on all of your goals for the whole month!!

What are you eating today??

Getting a late start with the beast mode challenge, so starting 100% in the morning, 5/5. That's my lucky number, so taking it as a good sign. Going over my medical history and medications today made me a little depressed but more resolved to fix some of these issues.

A little preoccupied with a minor surgery/biopsy that happened today. All is good, just taking it easy. 99.999999999% non-cancerous, just waiting on pathology to confirm. Been waiting for this issue to be resolved before pursuing adhd medication. Even for something so minor, I'm greatful for the support of my kids. My oldest was able to take the day off today drive me and talk to the surgeon while I was still asleep in recovery. My youngest took over transporting my middle child with autism to his appointment today, and then kept an eye on me the rest of the day.

Had a good weekend going with the 2 younger kids to the renaissance fair. Discivered a friend of mine from high school (class of '88 to show just how ...

Happy Sunday!! Beast Mode Challenge Day 3!!

I am flying to Houston today for a woke conference for the week. I'll be mostly stuck at the hotel/conference center so I am bringing a lot of my own food with me. And thankfully when I land I'll see my friend (and coworker) who lives in Houston so we'll hit up a grocery store and get me stocked up. (Actually she usually grabs me things she knows I eat and already has them on hand for me when I arrive). Having supportive friends and planning ahead for weeks like this makes all the difference.

How are you prepping today to ensure you are prepared and successful in this upcoming week? Meal prepping anything?
