One of the things that is so hard about the Holidays is that so many traditions are centered around food. Those traditions can be very emotional for people to break ties with, yet trying to still participate in them can knock us off the wagon for a while.
We have worked hard over the last few years to create new Carnivore related food traditions, however, focusing on our favorite non-food related traditions can make things a lot easier. When I focus on the non-food related traditions it can make the holidays still feel really special without me feeling like I'm missing out on something.
What are your favorite Holiday traditions that have NOTHING to do with food?
Cheese is good! I ate a block of chipotle oven baked cheese with lunch yesterday and it was divine. I love it, but know that it halts any progress I'm making, and will even trigger eating in excess to where I'll gain weight. It's sad but I have accepted it. If I eat it in small quantities with a meal, it's ok, but I really have to work to keep it in check.
What's your favorite cheese? How do you incorporate it? Do you see negative results when eating it?
Happy Sunday! Sharing a video today from our week, one of the highlights. This was Wednesday evening church, normally they have a more casual prayer meeting where someone plays the guitar, but they were doing some construction in the fellowship hall so they had their prayer meeting in the sanctuary. No one was there to play the piano so my my Grandma did it, she's been playing the piano in church for probably 80 years.
For context, she's 88, she had a really bad fall 5 years ago now and hit her head and ended up with a lot setbacks, similar to having a stroke. She has a lot of dementia like symptoms also (I am sure related to her Type 2 diabetes), she really can't read music anymore, and she has trouble seeing well, and she needs to wear hearing aids to hear but hates wearing them, so on this night she didn't want to wear them. My 93 (almost 94) year old grandpa takes care of both of them on their farm. Anyway, on this night she sat down on the piano and led worship as people called ...
Happy Saturday! I hope you are all doing well. I know some people in the group have had some recent tough news for themselves or family members. It really puts the day to day issues we face into perspective, and reminds me to just focus on doing the best I can to be as healthy as possible. To those who are having a hard time, we are all here for you and sending you some prayers and support. 🙏🏼🙏🏼 Just focus today on doing the best you can and remember that food isn't going to bring you the comfort you are looking for.
Here is a little video of Penelopes performance from her piano recital l last night, she's been taking lessons for about a year and a half. 🎹🤍🖤
*Livestream Monday night at 4pm pst/7pm est
Happy Thursday! How was your first day of October? I am off work today, spending time with family and hopefully doing some filming before I leave tomorrow.
We have been eating out of our freezers mainly for a while. We were finally able to combine a couple of them and defrost one yesterday. It has drawers and has some ice build up that we need to melt away. Re-organizing and restocking it today.
The bonus for all Chris's hard work is we found some lobster tails at the bottom, leftover from Christmas. So that was a fun treat for lunch today. We also found some Cornish game hens that I keep putting off making. Leaving those at the top of the freezer to make soon.
If you looked at the bottom/back of your freezer, what's the most random thing you would find?
Happy Wednesday Night All!
Harvest continues. He got the combine plugged really badly last night and it took an hour of him crawling up inside to dislodge all the trash/debris. But we got it (I was there to hand him the hoe, rake, etc and for moral support.)
Supper ended up being really late. Thankfully I had some pre-cooked ground beef in the fridge so he had sloppy joes and I had a protein shake.
My ears are still stopped up, a tiny bit better each day but not anywhere near open. It's getting very frustrating for everyone. And today I feel like I'm getting sick again, so I came home and laid down on a heating pad and slept for 45 mins. From what I've been hearing this is the way this round of the Cvd goes and plugged ears is one of the symptoms.
I started listening to the Live. Lobster sounds really good now. I'll have to watch for the sales. Our local stores are having Mega Meat Sales right now. If my freezers weren't filled with our own beef, I'd be tempted. I did find I'm about out of ...
Thanks for hanging out on the Livestream last night. If you need some motivation for how to be consistent, or need any meal ideas watch the replay. 😂😂 We covered both of those topics pretty in depth.
One other thing we talked about changing up our routine and creating new habits, and starting to change your lifestyle by setting one non-negotiable at a time. This gives us a quick win and helps us build some momentum. Then once we are feeling stronger with that goals we can set another one.
What is your non-negotiable for October that can help you stay on track and build some good habits and long term consistency?
