Today is Day 1! It's also just one day...every day is only one day. I love that we are starting this challenge on a Friday! It means serious business to not wait till another Monday or another first of the Month! Today we are making some new commitments and setting some new goals.
Your goals and challenges are going to look different than my goals and challenges. In this community, we each pick our own 1 Non-Negotiable thing to focus on for 30 days. Something small that can make a big impact on your goals when you do it (or remove it) consistently for a month. It might be a food that you keep slipping with, or it might be a behavior you want to add. A fasting window you want to hit, or ensuring you eat adequate protein. That 1 Non-Negotiable thing will be different for all of us. If you are having trouble setting one for yourself let me know.
I think setting other goals is also a good idea, but if life gets thrown at you and you need to make some adjustments just focus on sticking to that one non-negotiable thing for one day at a time.
As a community let's focus on adding a little daily movement as well...for some of you that's already a daily thing, so maybe see how you can add an extra element (walk with some small weights, add some squats etc). For some people (like me) it's about adding movement to begin with. My personal goal is 15 mins of squats and/or bodyweight exercises (push-ups, chair dips, lunges, etc).
Share your goals with the group. Make sure you take some pictures for yourself today and spend some time writing down your goals and your current situation. It can be so helpful to have something to look back on.
I love this group so much and the encouragement you give each other. I am so proud of each of you and want to remind you that you can do ANYTHING for one day. I want to live a long healthy life but I can only do that by focusing on one day at a time.
Cheese is good! I ate a block of chipotle oven baked cheese with lunch yesterday and it was divine. I love it, but know that it halts any progress I'm making, and will even trigger eating in excess to where I'll gain weight. It's sad but I have accepted it. If I eat it in small quantities with a meal, it's ok, but I really have to work to keep it in check.
What's your favorite cheese? How do you incorporate it? Do you see negative results when eating it?
Happy Sunday! Sharing a video today from our week, one of the highlights. This was Wednesday evening church, normally they have a more casual prayer meeting where someone plays the guitar, but they were doing some construction in the fellowship hall so they had their prayer meeting in the sanctuary. No one was there to play the piano so my my Grandma did it, she's been playing the piano in church for probably 80 years.
For context, she's 88, she had a really bad fall 5 years ago now and hit her head and ended up with a lot setbacks, similar to having a stroke. She has a lot of dementia like symptoms also (I am sure related to her Type 2 diabetes), she really can't read music anymore, and she has trouble seeing well, and she needs to wear hearing aids to hear but hates wearing them, so on this night she didn't want to wear them. My 93 (almost 94) year old grandpa takes care of both of them on their farm. Anyway, on this night she sat down on the piano and led worship as people called ...
Happy Saturday! I hope you are all doing well. I know some people in the group have had some recent tough news for themselves or family members. It really puts the day to day issues we face into perspective, and reminds me to just focus on doing the best I can to be as healthy as possible. To those who are having a hard time, we are all here for you and sending you some prayers and support. 🙏🏼🙏🏼 Just focus today on doing the best you can and remember that food isn't going to bring you the comfort you are looking for.
Here is a little video of Penelopes performance from her piano recital l last night, she's been taking lessons for about a year and a half. 🎹🤍🖤
*Livestream Monday night at 4pm pst/7pm est
Daylight Savings Time is starting on tomorrow in the USA, that means every state, except Arizona, will change their clocks forward one hour tonight. That also means everyone gets one less hour of sleep tonight. Research shows it can take your body a whole week to fully adapt to that one hour time difference.
Even though Arizona doesn't change our clocks, my job is headquarters out of Texas so everyone works on Central time. So with Daylight savings time I now have to start my day an hour earlier every day. So I have meetings daily now at 630 and 7am. 😭😭 I am very much dreading this as I already go to bed pretty early (and we all know I need a lot of sleep!).
How are you feeling about the time change? Does it affect your life/schedule at all? What are some things you do to help reset your circadian rhythm?
Happy Friday! Thanks to everyone that hung out on the Livestream last night. If you need to hear a good motivational rant from me check out the replay. 😂😂 The next Livestream here in Locals will be Monday at 7pm EST/4pm PST. I know Mondays are better for more people, and since most of my travel is slowing down we can do Mondays for a bit again.
That being said, I am headed out on a quick 24 hour trip today. 😂 Then the rest of the weekend we will just hang out with my Mom before she flys home Monday.
What are your plans this weekend? Any temptations ahead you are worried about?
